A new year...and a good one at that.

I haven't been the best person at keeping up with writing reviews, so I apologise for that. Last year was a busy one, and this year won't be any different as I finish my degree and graduate. Soon it will be time to head off into the real world, but before then I hope to get some reviews up of the films I am most looking forward to this year in 2012. Amongst them all, I will be getting extremely excited for the arrival of The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit.

This winter I have been writing a dissertation on one of my favourite films, Philadelphia (1993). It was one of the first mainstream films to approach the controversial subject of AIDS, and it is directed by someone fantastic and talented, Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, 1991). Ever since I have started this dissertation, the topic of AIDS has really got to me, and if you enjoy a courtroom drama I would highly recommend watching it. It is a film that has unfortunately been forgotten, but it stars Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington in the beginning of their careers, and their performances are genuinely mesmerising.

When I get the perfect moment I will also compose a list of exciting films to look out for this year. I have also gained a video camera this Christmas, so in my spare time I will be taking some short clips and photos in the Brighton area, as I would like to get a portfolio going for the future. So watch this space!
